MEET THE TEAM


Aaron Helman, Youth Minister

Aaron is a graduate of LaSalle High School , Clay’s youth ministry, and IUPUI with a degree in Economics.  He’s been in youth ministry since 2002; working for Impact 28:18 at Epworth Forest and Calvary UMC in Brownsburg, Indiana before returning to Clay in September 2008.  Aaron’s job is simply to bring students to the throne of Jesus Christ and has the privilege of doing so with an excellent team.

Doug Fecher,  Executive Director

Doug is married with three children. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and recently completed a Masters of Ministry at Bethel College. For 20 years he was involved in Engineering Management roles but has been on Staff at Clay Church since 2001. He is currently the Executive Director of Clay Church with a focus on developing Firehouse Ministries into a successful ministry at Clay Church. He is also a very proud Grandpa.

Sara Bartlett Farren, Creative Director


  Sara has her BFA from Ohio U. and worked professionally in Los Angeles for over 10 years.  She joined Clay Church and became part of the staff in 1998.  Sara runs the drama ministry, is apart of the media team, and is in charge of helping our Sunday morning Firehouse worship hour run smoothly.  Every summer she takes a bus load of 55 youth on our Musical Mission Tour.

Jim Boger, Praise Band Leader

Jim is married with 2 children and is the assistant principal at Brandywine middle and high school.  Jim plays piano, guitar, bass, and drums just to name a few instruments.  He not only leads our praise band but is an exceptional teacher of instruments as well. Jim has been a youth worship leader for over 8 years.

Debi Shertzer, Youth Administrative Coordinator

Debi is a member of Clay Church, having moved here, from the NW corner of Indiana in 2006 to marry her husband, Bill.  Besides taking care of Bill and their daughter Kate, Debi keeps the youth team running smoothly!

Anthony aka Tony Simons, Technical Director

Anthony has been a member of Clay Church since he was in 7th grade and is also a member of I.A.T.S.E Local 187.  He has worked in the production business for more than 8 years.  Volunteering at Clay for 6 years Anthony became apart of the Youth Team 2 years ago.  If it has to do with lights, sound, or computers...Tony is our guy!
